Pre-Drywall Inspection FAQs
What items need to be complete prior to a pre-drywall inspection?
We recommend the completion of all doors, windows, foundation, flooring, wall and roof components, plumbing and electrical rough-ins. It can also be performed after insulation has been added, though this does carry the risk of concealing some components.
How long does a pre-drywall inspection take?
As there aren’t as many components to cover, a pre-drywall inspection usually takes about an hour and a half to complete.
What do you look for in a pre-drywall inspection?
In this type of inspection, we look at the underlying structure and component systems. This includes the foundation, floor system, roof system, framing and more. It can also include a look at HVAC systems, like air ducts and registers. Plumbing and waterproofing are also examined.
What does a pre-drywall inspection cost?
Prices for pre-drywall inspections start from $###, depending on the square footage of the home. This fee includes a report for you and your builder.
Why should I get a pre-drywall inspection?
Once the walls go up, it can be difficult and expensive to locate issues. Not to mention that once the house is complete, it gets much trickier to demonstrate that an issue arose out of construction, instead of from normal ‘wear and tear’. For many of our clients, the peace of mind alone was worth it.
Can I attend my home’s pre-drywall inspection?
It’s completely up to you. We’re completely comfortable on our own, but feel free to attend if you’d like to follow along.
